Bill Gale tells me the new Kansas Voter I-D Law didn’t have any real impact on his decision to resign after eight years as Sedgwick County Election Commissioner. His office has done some research and concluded that the new law will not present much of a problem for local voters.
Gale says eight years as Election Commissioner is enough … after eight years as a Wichita City Council member. He’s ready to try something new in the non-profit sector, he tells me.
As a journalist, I’ve enjoyed working with Bill Gale. He has always been patient and generous with his time when I have asked for interviews. His manner is thoughtful … as if he is measuring his words to be factual without offending anyone. He has taken his government service seriously … doing his best to be a good public servant. He has been helpful to us media types in our efforts to report on elections in Sedgwick County.
Well done, Mr. Gale … and good luck!
