Wichita Police Looking for Robbery Suspect



The Wichita Police Department is asking for the public’s help in identifying and locating a suspect in two recent robberies.

On Tuesday, July 7, 2009 a man walked into the Popeye’s Chicken store at 1211 N. Broadway and attempted to rob the business. Then, on Sunday, July 12, 2009 a man hid inside the Dollar General Store at 1919 E. Pawnee until closing time and robbed the business of an undetermined amount of cash.  No one was hurt in either robbery.

The suspect is described as an African American male in his mid 20s, about 5’9” tall, with a light to medium complexion and weighing about 170 pounds. In both robberies, the suspect was armed with a black handgun.

The Wichita Police Department believes the same suspect was involved in both incidents and is distributing the attached photos and wanted poster for public dissemination. Anyone with information about this suspect is asked to call 9-1-1, the Wichita Police Department Robbery Section at 268-4177, or Crime Stoppers at 267-2111. Tips can also be sent to Crime Stoppers by text message from any cell phone by texting the word TIP217 followed by the tip message to the cell number CRIMES (274637).
