Lawrence Man Earns Doctorate Despite Injury



LAWRENCE, Kan. (AP) - A Lawrence man has earned his doctorate degree despite delays after losing his leg in an accident. Matthew Sherrill was a graduate student in organic chemistry at Kansas University in 2006 when he was in a crash while riding a motorcycle. His parents had to fly in from Tanzania where they were living as missionaries. With his parents help, he recovered from losing his foot and finished his doctorate in May 2009.
