TOPEKA, Kan. (AP) - Gov. Mark Parkinson has appointed Martin Kennedy as the interim secretary for the Department on Aging. Parkinson appointed Kennedy on Friday to succeed Kathy Greenlee. Greenlee has been confirmed as assistant U.S. secretary for aging in the Department of Health and Human Services headed by former Gov. Kathleen Sebelius. Kennedy had been the agency's deputy secretary. He has served in management positions at Aging since 2004. Greenlee had led the Department on Aging since January 2006. She had previously served as the state's ombudsman on long-term care and as the assistant secretary of aging.
