Boeing is again postponing the initial flight of its 787 Dreamliner. The delay is needed to reinforce a section of the airplane’s body, officials say. Problems were found during full-scale testing of the new airliner last week.
First flight and first delivery will be rescheduled accordingly, but the company reported it would be several weeks before the new dates are announced.
In December, Boeing announced a two-quarter delay in the Dreamliner program because of last fall’s strike by the International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers.
The revised schedule had called for the first flight to happen late this quarter. The first delivery was to have been in the first quarter of 2010.
