EMPORIA, Kan. (AP) - Emporia police say a 26-year-old man who died after being assaulted is the city's first homicide of the year. Police Lt. Ed Owens said Ricky Nurnberg was pronounced dead at the scene of the assault Wednesday. A 24-year-old woman has been arrested, but no charges have been filed. Details about the hometowns of those involved, their relationship, or a motive for the homicide have not been released. Police Chief Gary Smith says no other individuals were apparently involved in the homicide.
