HUTCHINSON, Kan. (AP) - Hutchinson Fire Department officials say a fire that destroyed one downtown Hutchinson building and damaged two others is being investigated as arson. The March 25 fire at the Luxury Kitchen and Bath was apparently set. Fire inspectors say there was no ignition source on the exterior of the building where the fire began and nothing on or in the wall that could have started the fire. Ted and Dixie Niecieckis, owners of Luxury Kitchen and Bath, lost their business, their home and belongings. The building owner, Jim Strawn, estimated damages throughout the building at $50,000, primarily from smoke. Fire officials say the Niecieckis are not suspects in the fire. They were asleep in the building's second-story loft apartment when the fire broke out.
