Tanning Tax

July 9th, 2010 by Wichita

Is the ‘Tanning Tax’ reverse racism? Probably not. What concerns me is what’s next? Stop the taxes and lower spending! I heard on the radio news today that the Labor Dept over-paid $7 billion in unemployment payments last year. That’s money that went to people that did not qualify for it. Where’s my Neal Boortz book on the fair tax …

Bob Brinker

June 21st, 2010 by Wichita

I’ve had some listeners ask why Bob Brinker is no longer on Saturday. Bob started on KNSS over 20 years ago, doing both Saturday and Sunday afternoon Money Talk from 3p-6p. I‘ve listened to Bob over the years, and I listen to him when he talks. I heard him talk about the dot-com bubble and getting out of it before it burst. The burst happened.

There have been at least 2 market downfalls where I’ve heard him tell us about the signs of downfall, and the downfall happened. Bob knows the market … and he is responsible about his message on the radio. He doesn’t recommend stock. He’s above that. Rather, Bob watching signs of the market and explains them. Some call it “timing the market.” But you have to know the market well in order to do this.

Bob is an example of someone who found something he is good at and sticking with it. Teens becoming adults should keep this in mind. Find something you are good at (and love), then work at it. Don’t worry about money. Do what you love and the money will follow.

Bob announced a few weeks ago that he will only be doing the Sunday show. I encourage you to tune in to Bob Sundays 3p-6p, you’ll learn something that is literally worth the money in your bank.

Oil spill

June 11th, 2010 by Wichita

Enough of blaming BP for the oil spill. We need to work together and fix this problem right now. Then look later at what happened, fix that problem so it doesn’t happen again.

Those who say we should not be drilling for oil don’t understand life in the US. We need oil in our way of life. Sure, I’d love to drive a water-powered car, but that just not the case right now. Oil is no more evil than food. We need it.

Environmentalists that are negative about oil should spend more time inventing ways for us to get off of oil, not trying to restrict drilling so that we are miles out in the ocean trying to get to oil, when we could just a well be right off shore, or on land … able to fix a break much easier if/when it happens.

Forum

April 20th, 2010 by Wichita

We have an exciting season of local politics ahead of us. Not only do we look to who will fill the Senate seat being vacated by Sam Brownback, we also are looking at the congressional seat being vacated by Todd Tiahrt. We have a congressional candidates’ forum (our 1st this year) on Thursday, April 29th at the Airport Hilton. We invite you to attend. Find out more at knssradio.com. If you can’t make it, tune in that evening to KNSS as we’ll broadcast the event live. In both races no one can say who’ll come out on top, but you can say it’ll be interesting.

Cautious

April 2nd, 2010 by Wichita

I am cautiously watching how things will flush out with the new health care bill that is now law. Of course I’ve heard from both sides on the issue. And when I say both sides, I’ve heard from the far sides at both ends. I hear spins put on the issue. Spins do not help an issue, for or against. In the end when the spin is realized, the person putting on the spin should just as well have straight-out lied. If I hear spin from someone, I no longer trust that person. It’s that simple. Maybe that is why so many no longer trust politicians? They use spin to show they are successful, worthwhile to citizens, and should be kept/put in office.

MLK Day

January 18th, 2010 by Wichita

Today is Martin Luther King Jr Day. It’s a day we should take time to remember a great American. MLK came at a time in our history when he was really needed. I was only a few years old when he died. I am always moved when I hear one of his speeches. It seems only natural to say ‘rest in peace MLK’ for that’s all he wanted for all of us: Peace.

Year Ender

December 11th, 2009 by Wichita

Looking back at 2009 and KNSS, this was a good year for us. We continue to have a very large listening audience, and our advertisers are reporting success with messages heard on KNSS. This is good to know in a year when the economy was pretty ugly. What’s nice about the ‘KNSS Listener’ is they are sought after by most advertisers. And the ‘KNSS Listener’ tends to listen to the station for longer periods of time, rather than others that may pick and choose radio stations based on a favorite song. In 2010 we have some key elections coming, Health Care Reform, and of course breaking news that you’ll most likely hear first on KNSS

Rush = NFL?

October 15th, 2009 by Wichita

An interesting turn of events this week with the possibility of Rush Limbaugh’s purchasing the St Louis Rams, eh? It’s too bad that Rush was removed from ownership consideration because to some he is controversial. Well, I will say that I’ll be tuning in today to see what he says. What do you think? Comment below, I’d love to hear what Wichita has to say on this subject.

You decide, right?

September 24th, 2009 by Wichita

I heard a TV news channel ‘talking-head’ and a radio “consultant” this week say that if violence breaks out (regarding Prez Obama and the health care issue) that talk radio will be to blame. All I can say is “wow.” How stupid. Maybe these two need to take a class on human interaction. Talkers like Rush are on the air and have a big following because listeners are entertained, learn something new, hear Rush say what they believe or don’t believe. Listeners are not zombies. They are not brainwashed. If Rush went on the air today and told listeners to turn to violence (of which he wouldn’t do) … there would NOT be violence breaking out around the country, but instead we’d see a large ratings drop of Rush on many stations. His listeners would see the wrong in the message and be turned off by it.

Really?

September 15th, 2009 by Wichita

In my office I have a TV, usually on one of the news channels. I’m watching a vote going on in regards to a resolution to disapprove South Carolina Rep Joe Wilson’s outburst last week to President Obama’s speech to a joint session of Congress. Now, regardless of whether Rep Joe was right or wrong, can these idiots in Congress that brought this forward not focus on something more important? As I remember, Rep Joe called the Pres and apologized. That’s enough. I don’t think he’ll do it again. The problem with politicians is the politics.
