Kansas lawmakers consider immigration bills

TOPEKA, Kan. - Law enforcement officials would be required to help immigration officials under two bills before a Kansas Senate committee.

One bill would compel the Kansas Highway Patrol to look into an agreement allowing its officers to get training in federal immigration laws so they could help enforce them. The other would crack down on jurisdictions that don't comply with immigration authorities' requests to detain immigrants who are in the country illegally.

The bills are backed by Secretary of State Kris Kobach, who has championed tough voting and immigration bills. But opponents say resources for the highway patrol would be expensive. They also raised concern about the expense of detainments and that the detainments could lead to costly litigation.

If Illegal is in front of the situation or name... What do you or anyone not understand about that word iLLEGAL??? Is it just illegal for certain individuals or for all of us??? Can I get by with robbing a bank; NO because it's ILLEGAL.. You let it slide and there will be more things swept under the illegal rug.. what if Russians came over here Illegal... OH NO.. they wouldn't be aloud to stay>> why? Ok here's analogy: you have a hand full of jellybeans.. three jellybeans in the handful will kill you, would you trust your kid with finding those three jellybeans???? Who want's to be responsible for that one unfound jellybean aka Illegal immigrant... The people responsible will start being sued for allowing these Illegal Immigrants to be in OUR country ILLIGALLY.
