WICHITA - Woman wrecks into power pole causing a fire and nearly 2,000 people to be without power.
It happened on Market street near 25th street on Saturday morning.
A woman crashed her car into a power pole, causing one of the power lines to snap. The power line fell onto a gas meter and arched, causing a meter to catch fire. For a short time, flames could be scene shooting from the meter and from the ground around it.
The woman who crashed her car was injured in the accident and taken to the hospital.
Nearly 1,900 people are without power in Sedgwick County due to the accident. Estimated time the power will come back on is around 1:30 p.m. in the afternoon.
Crews are still on the scene. Dispatch reported that the west bound lanes of 26th and Broadway have been blocked due to the accident.
