The new 140,000-square-foot W. Frank Barton School of Business is expected to be included with the second phase of development for the university’s innovation campus.
He said WSU will seek $35 million in private donations to help fund construction of a new business school.
WSU, he said, will also seek $1.5 million a year in bonded funding from the state for 10 years. Student fees also could be used.
The Barton School is out of room and is outdated in its existing home in WSU’s Clinton Hall.
University leaders have struggled with finding a viable solution and ensuring that the business school remains competitive. Other colleges around the state, such as Kansas State University and the University of Kansas, are moving ahead with plans for new business schools.
