Costco Plan Gets Planning Commission OK

WICHITA, Kan. - The Wichita-Sedgwick County Metropolitan Area Planning Commission voted 12-0 on Thursday to approve a final site for a Costso Wholesale store near Kellogg and Webb Road.

The planning commission has 14 members, but two were absent for Thursday’s meeting.

The approval of the plat doesn’t guarantee construction, but is another in a growing list of clues that point to the eventual opening of a Costco in Wichita.

On Wednesday, colleague Daniel McCoy reported how the project showed up on a national bidding platform.

The bid date for construction of a Costco retail store and gas station is Aug. 19, according to the McGraw-Hill Construction Dodge BidPRO report.

The site indicates that the project is valued at $6 million, while the gas station project is listed at $749,999.

Costco has yet to publicly confirm that a store is planned for Wichita, let alone one at Kellogg and Webb.
