Wichita Police say illegal gambling led up to shooting

WICHITA, Kan. - Police say the apartment where four people were shot early Thursday was being used as a "gambling house".
Captain Doug Nolte says people who had "previously been" at the apartment in the 2600 block of North Grove around 4 a.m., possibly intending to get some money back. That is when a disturbance erupted and gunfire was exchanged between those who returned and others in the apartment.
Four men were injured. Captain Nolte says at least one, a 25 year old man, remains hospitalized and he is in critical condition under police guard.
No arrest had been made as of the media briefing Friday morning. The investigation is continuing.
