3 Unrelated shootings overnight in Wichita leave 7 injured

WICHITA, Kan. - Three separate, un-related shootings in Wichita overnight left at least seven people injured, one critically.

Captain Troy Livingston says his detectives were aleady busy with two shootings earlier Wednesday night when a third shooting occured around 4 a.m. in northeast Wichita. That incident occured near 26th and Grove at an apartment in Calvary Towers.

Capt. Livingston says officers responded to the scene and it was eventually determined there were four people shot.

A 25-year-old man was found inside with a gunshot wound to his chest and was taken to a local hospital in critical condition. Three other men, ages 41, 29 and 28 were taken to local hospitals in private vehicles with non-life threatening injuries.

Calvary Towers is a complex for retirement-age people and those who have disabilities. Police expect to release more details Friday.

Captain Doug Nolte say it was shortly after 9:00 p.m. Wednesday when a 43 year old man got into an argument with a 45 year old woman outside her residence in the 6400 block of E. Pepperwood and the woman shot him in the leg.

The victim drove himself to the hospital. Police are looking for a known suspect.

Capt. Nolte says the argument began with the man was demanding to see another woman who was at the home and the woman would not let him see her.

Nolte says just an hour later, around 10:15 p.m.,  four teens were sitting in a car in the QT Parking lot in the 600 block of W 21st st north when an unknown suspect walked up to them and fired shots at them. The victims left the scene and called police from 27th and Erie.

Two brothers, one 18 the other 15, were seriously injured but the wounds were not considered to be life threatening. Two females, one 17 and one 18, who were with the brothers were not injured.
