(NEW YORK) -- Crumbs has turned off its ovens and closed up shop.
The cupcake company abruptly closed all of its retail stores on Monday and ceased operations of online orders.
"Regrettably Crumbs has been forced to cease operations and is immediately attending to the dislocation of its devoted employees while it evaluates its limited remaining options," the company said in a statement to ABC News Tuesday.
Employees were told about the news on Monday.
Crumbs, which has 65 stores operating in 12 states and Washington, D.C., says it is “evaluating” its options. One of those options is bankruptcy.
The company has suffered a big decline in sales over the past few years and recently failed to obtain additional financing.
