Man injured trying to recover stolen truck in S. Wichita died Sunday

WICHITA, Kan. - A man who was injured while trying to recover a stolen vehicle Saturday morning has died.
Two brother's were looking for their father's stolen pickup truck around 7:40 a.m. when they spotted the vehicle, with a flatbed trailer attached, at the QT in 3900 block of South Meridian. Sgt. Ed Brower says the brother's approached the driver in the truck who then started to drive away. The two men, one 25 and the other 27 years of age, grabbed hold of the moving truck.
Sgt. Brower says both men were dragged for a distance. Witnesses reported that the 27 year old was thrown off into a grassy area while the 25 year old fell off in the street and was run over by the attached trailer.
Both men were transported to a local hospital for treatment. Hospital officials have confirmed that the younger brother died of his injuries some time Sunday morning.
Officers responding to scene located the stolen truck in the 3000 block of West 45th Street South. The area was cordoned off while police conducted a search. A 34 year old man was arrested and booked into jail on a charge of aggravated battery.
