WICHITA, Kan. - Wesley Medical Center has started a project to expand the size of its emergency department.
Over the next two or three months, existing space will be reconfigured to improve efficiencies and patient flow.
Key Construction Inc. has pulled a commercial building permit for the project, valued at $296,801.
Nick Adams, vice president of marketing and public relations at Wesley, says the additional space is needed to better accommodate growth in Wesley’s emergency department.
The hospital has asked all of its ER doctors to become employees of the hospital’s staffing vendor, EmCare or risk losing their jobs.
Those discussions are still ongoing and have no bearing on the hospital’s renovation project.
