WICHITA - Professor Donna Sweet of the University of Kansas School of Medicine/Wichita is widely-known as "the AIDS doctor of Kansas." Dr. Sweet tells KNSS News prior to 1995, the diagnosis of HIV meant a death sentence. Not so today. Dr. Sweet says with proper treatment, an HIV patient can live as long as anyone.
"What we can do for people's lives if they are HIV infected is absolutely unbelievable. Especially when you put it in the context of what I was doing in '83, '84, and '85; which was helping people die. Generally within 6 months of the diagnosis."
Dr. Donna Sweet is our guest this weekend on "Issues 2014" Sunday morning at 8 on KNSS. Click here for a podcast on our web page knssradio.com.
