WICHITA - After every devastating storm comes opportunities to help the victims. The United Way of the Plains is coordinating volunteer efforts to clean up after the tornado in Baxter Springs, in southeast Kansas. Anyone interested in volunteering can call 211. Checks should be made payable to the United Way of the Plains, memo line "Baxter Springs Tornado," and mailed to 245 North Water in Wichita 67202.
The Salvation Army is providing two mobile feeding canteen units to Baxter Springs, each capable of serving more than two-thousand people a day. The Salvation Army is also providing spiritual and emotional care to survivors. Contributions can be made by mail or by phone at 800-725-2769.
