Teen Apprehended After Car Crash in SW Wichita

WICHITA - At about 2:00 a.m. Tuesday, a 17-year-old boy driving a car crashed into a utility pole in Wichita on West Street, near I-235 -- apparently, it was intentional. His 12-year-old younger brother was a passenger in the car.

Police say before the crash, the driver made the statement, "God would decide who was evil and who would die." The older brother was booked into the Juvenile Intake Assessment Center on suspicion of possession of methamphetamine, child endangerment, and aggravated battery; the little brother was released from the hospital into the custody of his mother.

Investigators are also trying to figure out whether these boys might have had something to do with a garage fire in the 4500 block of S. Osage; that fire caused about $30,000 in damage.
