WICHITA, Kan. - The family of a Wichita doctor what was struck and killed by a hit & run driver, has filed a civil lawsuit.
The family of William Whiteside are suing the driver of the car, Cody Fields and his employer, Fugate Enterprises, who operate Pizza Hut franchises in the Wichita area. Dr. Whiteside was struck and killed by a car, driven by Fields in April of 2012.
Investigators said Whiteside was jogging near his Kechi home, sometime after 10:00 p.m. on April 20, 2012, when he was struck by a car driven by Fields. Fields left the scene, but then later contacted authorities and turned himself in. He was charged last year and received probation after pleading guilty to leaving the scene of an accident.
