WICHITA, Kan. - The man accused in the death of a radio station employee has been formally charged in Sedgwick County District Court.
Antwon Banks, 31, was in court Wednesday, where he was charged in the death of Daniel Flores, 25. Flores was found dead inside the Steckline Communications building, located near Kellogg and Maize Road, around 8:00 a.m. on February 10.
Banks has been charged with first degree murder in Flores death. A preliminary hearing has been scheduled for March 5. Bond for Banks is set at $750,000.
A Crime Stoppers tip lead police to Banks, who was pulled over February 12 at 37th Street N. and Woodlawn. As officers approached, Banks stabbed himself in the abdomen. He was treated at a Wichita hospital for non-life threatening injuries before being transferred to the medical clinic inside of the Sedgwick County Jail over the weekend.
According to police, Banks is an ex-boyfriend of a woman who works at the radio station and that he did not know the victim. According to Lt. Todd Ojile, Flores may have simply been at the wrong place at the wrong time.
