WICHITA - What's billed as a major commercial and tourism complex at K-96 and Greenwich Road was moved forward by the Wichita City Council.
The council approved $31.5 million in Sales Tax Revenue Bonds, or STAR Bonds, to help finance the project known as Goodsports.
Allan Bell of the City's economic development department explained the project: "It will also provide a venue for all types of indoor team sports, and the plan is for this facility .... to be operated in a way that will ensure that there will be team sports tournaments there nearly every weekend of the year."
The fieldhouse is scheduled for completion by March of 2016.
The facility will eventually include a water sports attraction and a hotel.
