WICHITA - A man jumped off the downtown Kellogg flyover late Monday morning, plunging to his death on the ground below.
It happened before 11:30 a.m. Monday on Kellogg east of Seneca. A man and his wife were in a car that had pulled over to the side of the road on U.S. Highway 54. A Kansas Highway Patrol trooper, spotting the disabled vehicle, pulled up. As the trooper approached, a man got out of the car and jumped off the Kellogg bridge over McLean Boulevard downtown.
Emergency crews located the victim near McLean & Taft in the area of the riverbank bike path, south of Kellogg; he was pronounced dead at the scene.
Because of the incident, north-bound McLean was shut down, and south-bound traffic was limited. The on-ramp to westbound Kellogg at the Central Business District was also closed.
