WICHITA - Wichita City Council member Jeff Longwell tells KNSS News he was diagnosed with Type 2 diabetes several years ago. Longwell says he takes two pills a day to help control his disease. He also exercises, watches his diet, and monitors his blood sugar.
Longwell says more than 71,000 people died from diabetes in the U.S. last year, and diabetes was a contributing factor in another 160,000 deaths. Jeff Longwell is a Corporate Leadership Board member with the local Diabetes organization. November is Diabetes Awareness Month.
