Suspect Robs S. Wichita Walmart

WICHITA - A man wearing a dark puffy winter coat robbed a Walmart in south Wichita. It happened Wednesday night at Pawnee & Broadway, where a suspect approached two employees emptying out the cash register drawers, grabbing the money bag. There was a brief struggle, but one of the employees noticed the suspect had a handgun in the waistband of his pants, and gave up.
That's when a customer in the store, a 29-year-old man, got involved; the customer followed the suspect outside, and tried to wrestle away the money bag. However, the suspect was able to break free, keeping the bag, and driving away in a blue van.
The suspect abandoned his vehicle near Funston & Ida, and ran away.
About four hours later, a homeowner in the 1800 block of S. Ellis found a coat, and an empty Walmart money-bag in his detatched garage -- but the suspect was already gone.
