(MILLINGTON, Tenn.) -- Two soldiers were injured and a suspect is in custody following a shooting Thursday on U.S. Navy property in Millington, Tenn., authorities said.
A Navy official said that at 12:47 p.m. Central time, a shooting occurred outside a building located on the property of the Naval Support Activity Mid-South in Millington.
Navy and base police first responded to the incident and are working with local law enforcement, officials said.
The base was on lockdown for a while as a precaution, the Navy tweeted, but the lockdown was subsequently lifted.
The shooter is in custody and appears to be a National Guardsman, authorities said. There were no fatalities, but two soldiers were injured with non-life-threatening injuries, according to Navy officials.
The base is a shared facility with the Tennessee National Guard.
Millington is about 20 miles northeast of Memphis.
