Severe Thunderstorms Rumble through Central Kansas
WICHITA, Kan. - Severe storms pushed southeast through north-central and south-central Kansas Thursday evening. Many counties experienced heavy rain, strong winds and hail.
In Geary County, 4.5 inches of rain fell, flooding roadways and leaving many without power. McPherson saw one-inch hail and flooding as well. As the storms began to edge into northern sections of Sedgwick County at around 7:00 p.m., the Newton Airport in Harvey County reported a wind gust of 61 miles-per-hour. And Butler County authorities reported penny-sized hail.
There have been no initial reports of flooding or damage.
