WICHITA - Another downpour -- more than an inch-and-a-half of rain dumped on Wichita early Thursday morning, causing city staff to barricade several streets with high water.
Some of the barricaded areas included Pawnee & Meridian, 31st Street South & McLean, and Maple & West. Most of the barricades were removed by 8:30 a.m.
With all the recent rain, much of the run-off has been diverted into the Big Ditch, which is about 40% full in some places. This is the most water in the Big Ditch since heavy rains in September 2008.
