LINDSBORG, Kan. - The McPherson County Commission voted Thursday to proclaim a state of local disaster emergency exists following recent flooding. The move is a first step in the process of potentially receiving assistance to repair damage to public property and infrastructure. Lindsborg received the most flood damage, estimated at close to $4 million.
Effective immediately all contractors operating in Lindsborg must register with the City for all work requiring a building permit. This measure is being taken to protect the citizens of the community from fraudulent contractors and scam artists.

At a public hearing Thursday night, residents learned that they probably won't receive any federal assistance to repair their homes. And most residents did not carry flood insurance.
