Police: Teen Felon Shot Himself in S. Wichita

WICHITA - An 18-year-old suffered a gunshot wound. It happened before 12:30 a.m. Thursday when a 44-year-old man found his son injured on the ground in his room in the 3400 block of S. Glenn.
The bullet had gone through the victim's right leg and his foot, shattering his femur; he was hospitalized in critical condition. The victim told police that he had been confronted at an unknown location by two suspects who shot him; however, further investigation led officers to believe that the gunshot wound was self-inflicted.
A background check on the victim by officers indicated that he's a convicted felon, and that having a firearm in his possession would be illegal; police obtained a search warrant for the residence.
