INDEPENDENCE, Kan. - A storm that rolled through southeast Kansas Friday evening caused damage and left many in Chautauqua and Elk counties without power.
Chautauqua County Emergency Management said five to nine lines are down across K-99 and others near U.S. Highway 166. It was also reported that the northwest section of the county was without power. Authorities did not have an estimated time of restoration. No damage to structures has been reported.
Westar reports 1,300 customers in Elk County are without power, which officials say is due to downed power lines. The sheriff's office also reported some flooding in Oak Valley.
No injuries have been reported in either county.
