WICHITA, Kan. - Wichita and Sedgwick County Management leaders are preparing for what could be a dangerous weather day.
Wednesday, people from different agencies gathered at the Public Safety Center to listen in on a conference call from the National Weather Service. Forecasters say storms could bring tornadoes to our area Thursday afternoon. "It's appropriate they should have concern," said Emergency Management Director Randy Duncan. “They shouldn't be afraid."
The fire department will move some of its equipment to a training center on south Oliver and set up somewhat of a command center in case of severe weather. Sheriff's deputies will be out watching for rotation in the clouds.
Should severe weather threaten the Wichita and Sedgwick County area, listen for Operation Storm Watch for continuous coverage, with our storm trackers in the field and our weather partners at KAKE-TV.
