WICHITA, Kan. - Josh Blick and Jeff Blubaugh are engaged in a battle for Southwest Wichita's city council seat, but when Blick woke up Monday morning, he found a disturbing site.Blick's wife was the first to discover the political signs in their yard were spray painted. On closer inspection she saw even more vandalism on their house. Black paint had been sprayed over their front door, and also on the front window. Even the name "Jeff" spray painted on the bottom of the window.
"This morning, my wife woke up about 7:30 a.m. and took my daughter to school," Blick said as he knocked on doors this morning. "And then I usually take my son about 9:00. She said you need to go outside and look at the house. About 30 minutes later, the neighbors came over."
Those neighbors noticed that Blick's front windshield on his car had also been bashed in. "We did have officers come out and at least make a report," Blick said. "They took pictures of the house and windshield, also."
Blick's opponent, real estate agent Jeff Blubaugh, says he hopes those responsible are caught. "I consider Josh and I friends, still," Blubaugh said. "I know that he has video surveillance on his house and I hope they review that surveillance, they find out who did it and charge them and prosecute them to the fullest extent of the law, because we need to stick to the issues that affect citizens of district four."
On West Kellogg, vandals also spray painted a Blick campaign billboard with the name "Jeff" written at the bottom. If you have any information as to who did the vandalism, call Crime Stoppers at (316) 267-2111.
