AUGUSTA, Kan. - Burglars struck at a residence in Augusta over the weekend. It happened in the 1100 block of Deerborn, at the home of a highway patrol trooper. Augusta police said that among the items taken were a taser and a handgun.The robbery took place sometime between Thursday and Monday. Police haven’t released many details, but say the case is a top priority.
"I'm more concerned in cases where we have weapons stolen," Augusta police Sgt. Michael Stueven. "Whether it's a trooper's house or a citizen's, when there's weapon's stolen it is a concern," Stueven added.
Police are stepping up patrols in the area following the robbery.
