WICHITA, KAN. - A 15-year-old boy was taken to a Wichita hospital in critical condition after a drive-by shooting in north Wichita early Sunday morning, but police say his injuries are not life-threatening.
Wichita Police were called to a home in the 1300 block of North Estelle a little after midnight, Sgt. Jeff Swanson said.
There, officers were told the victim and another teen were walking down 12th Street between Estelle and Green when they were confronted by three people in a car. After an argument, one of the people in the car pulled a gun and fired one shot, Swanson said. That bullet hit the 15-year-old in the lower right hip.
The victim and the other teen then went to the house on Estelle to report the shooting. The teen was taken to Wesley Medical Center in critical condition.
Detectives were still interviewing the victim and witnesses. Swanson said police do not yet know whether the victim knew the suspects.
