Joe Raedle/Getty Images(NEW YORK) -- In an effort to cut down on costs, the U.S. Postal Service will stop delivering mail on Saturdays, ABC News has confirmed.
The cash-strapped mail service will, however, continue to deliver packages six days a week.
According to multiple reports, the move will take effect in August and is expected to spare the USPS approximately $2 billion a year.
The Postal Service is scheduled to announce the change later Wednesday.
