Fire Damages House, Site of January Police Standoff
WICHITA, Kan. - Wichita firefighters were called to the scene of a house fire late Monday afternoon near Central and McLean. It happened around 5:00 p.m. in the 2400 block of W. Newell.
First responders reported heavy smoke coming from the home and a fire in the basement. The fire was quickly brought under control and a cause remains under investigation.
The house, which appeared to be vacant to the firefighters, was the scene of a police standoff that took place on January 9th, following a road rage incident at a west Wichita McDonald’s drive through.
The suspects in that case, Sean Costa, 24, and Melissa Palacios, 27, are both facing charges that stem from Costa allegedly firing a shotgun at another vehicle in the drive through lane.
