WICHITA, Kan. - A 34-year-old man was rushed to the hospital in critical condition early Saturday morning after police say he was stabbed with a stair banister during a fight in west Wichita. It happened about 1:45 a.m. in the 300 block of North Edwards.
     Wichita Police Sgt. Jim Merrick said two men who had been drinking Friday night began arguing. The argument escalated into a fight and the victim was stabbed with the wooden banister. Merrick said a gun was also fired during the fight, but nobody was shot.
     The victim went to a neighboring house for help and that's when someone called 911, Merrick said. A man in his 20s is in custody. A third person -- a woman -- was also in the home when the fight started.
