Jonell Lloyd was convicted of 1st Degree Murder and child abuse in the August, 2008 murder of his daughter Chavira Brown. Prosecutors say Lloyd beat Chavira and then placed her inside of a trash bag while she was still alive.
His appeal claims there was not enough evidence to prove Chavira's murder was premeditated. Police found her body hidden in the attic of a home.
Lloyd was found guilty in July of 2009 and sentenced later that year to the "Hard 50" sentence with an additional 10 years for child abuse. The judge ordered those sentences to run consecutively.
He is currently serving his sentence at the Hutchinson Correctional Facility.
