County Considers Linking Wichita-Derby Bicycle Paths
WICHITA, Kan. - Sedgwick County Commissioners plan to consider supporting an application to use federal transportation enhancement funds to construct the Aviation Pathway from Wichita to Derby.
The 3.61 miles pedestrian and bicycle path would start at MacArthur Rd. and Englewood St. in South Wichita and end at Buckner and Commerce Drive in Derby. "I think it adds to the quality of life and travel options for people," said Jim Skelton, Sedgwick County Commissioner.
The proposed Aviation Pathway would connect the 60 miles Wichita path system to the 25 miles Derby path system. The estimate total project cost is $1.27 million, with 80% federal aid and 20% local match requested.
