WICHITA - A man and woman upset about a fast-food restaurant getting their order wrong got involved in a standoff with Wichita police.
At about 7:30 a.m. Wednesday, a man ordered food at a McDonald's drive-thru at Kellogg & Dugan Road in west Wichita.
The man reportedly became upset when he drove away and realized his order was wrong. The situation intensified when the man tried to cut in front of another car at the drive-thru.
The driver waiting in line didn't appreciate the other car trying to cut, and words were exchanged. At one point a woman got out of the car trying to cut, and threw a crowbar at the other vehicle.
The driver of that same car then got out, grabbed a shotgun and fired into the air before leaving.
Police responded, tracking the tag of the suspects' car to a home on Newell Street near Central & Meridian, where officers tried to get the occupants to come out.
Newell Street was shut down, as police officers waited to obtain a search warrant.
A standoff of nearly six hours came to an end when the people inside finally came out; the standoff ended without incident.
