Council Seat Vacancy to Be Filled Next Week

WICHITA, Kan.  -  The Wichita City Council decided to delay a vote to choose a new interim District 4 council member. The vote will be held at next week's meeting on Jan. 15.
There are three remaining candidates left vying to fill Michael O'Donnell's vacant council seat. O'Donnell left the council in December to take on his new role in the Kansas Senate.
Candidates remaining include, Jeff Blubaugh, Paul Gray, and Stan Reeser. Josh Blick announced today that he will no longer run for the interim position but will run for the official seat in April.
The candidate who is chosen next week will immediately begin voting for District 4 on agenda items. The three remaining candidates will each receive a packet for next week's agenda items to study before the meeting.
The candidate chosen for District 4 will hold the position until April.  Districts 1, 3, 4, and 6 council seats will be up for vote at the April 2 general election.
