Mother and 6 Children Displaced by House Fire

WICHITA, Kan.  -  A woman and her six children are receiving help from the Red Cross following a house fire Thursday afternoon near 25th Street N. and Grove.
Wichita firefighters arrived on scene in the 2500 block of E. Raleigh Driver to find smoke and flames coming from the home. Fire officials say the fire appears to have started in the kitchen.
A girl, 13, was home at the time of the fire but she was able to escape safely. The cause of the fire has been determined but officials are waiting to complete their investigation before releasing how the fire started.
A preliminary estimate puts damage $30,000 to $40,000. The children range in age from 2 to 13.
