Weather Causes Problems in Wichita

WICHITA - A blast of wintry weather travelled across Kansas Wednesday night and this morning ... with high wind and blowing snow ... near blizzard conditions in some places. I-70 in northwest Kansas was closed for a time ... along with stretches of several other Kansas highways. More than 30 schools called off classes or opened late ... none in south central Kansas. The National Weather Service reports up to two inches of snowfall in parts of south central Kansas ... with one inch at Wichita's Mid-Continent Airport. Dozens of accidents were reported in Wichita during morning drive ... many of them on the elevated roadways of the interstates. A number of those accidents were roll-overs with injuries.
