Winfield Man Dies In Oklahoma Accident



     WINFIELD, Kan. - A Winfield man is dead following an accident over the weekend in northern Oklahoma.
     It happened around 8 Saturday morning on Oklahoma state highway 11 about 4 miles north of Ponca City.
     According to the Oklahoma Highway Patrol, a westbound Ford F150 crossed the center line into the path of an eastbound semi truck. The driver of the semi veered to the right right trying to avoid a collision, but was still struck.
     The pickup rolled twice and ejected the driver, 21-year-old Matthew McLaughlin who was not wearing a seat belt.  McLaughlin was pronounced dead at the scene.
     A 19-year-old passenger, also from Winfield, was taken to a Ponca City hospital with non life-threatening injuries. The crash report indicates he was wearing a seat belt.
     The 58-year-old driver of the semi truck suffered minor injuries.
