Cold Blamed for Butler County Woman's Death

EL DORADO, Kan.  -  A Butler County woman has died, and authorities believe the cold weather may have killed her. The woman's body was found in a field near Leon before 7:00 a.m. Monday.
The Butler County Undersheriff said the woman, 30, and her fiance, 52, went to look at the cross on Cattleman's Hill before 1:00 a.m. At some point the woman became disoriented, jumped out of the car and ran off. The man called deputies to help search for her.
Butler and Greenwood County deputies, KHP air support and multiple other agencies from around the area searched for the woman throughout the overnight hours.
The woman's body was discovered at about 6:45 a.m., 500 yards from where she was last seen in the area of Highway 54 and Cattle Pen Road.   She has been identified as Beth Ann Noffsinger, 30, of El Dorado.
An autopsy has been requested. Investigators said she was not properly dressed for the cold conditions, and that there are currently no signs of trauma or foul play.
