JUNCTION CITY, Kan. - A suspect was hospitalized after he was shot trying to take a detective's gun. It began Friday morning when Geary County officials say a deputy tried to pull over a man for several traffic violations, shortly after 11:00 a.m.
WIBW-TV reports that the suspect lead the deputy on a chase before finally abandoning the vehicle on the south side of Junction City. The deputy then traded gunshots with the suspect who fled to a nearby motel.Authorities were able to locate the suspect a short time later and a foot chase ensued. WIBW says the suspect was shot by an officer after he tried to take a detective's gun.
He is being treated at the Geary County Community Hospital. The KBI is currently involved in the investigation.
