WICHITA, Kan. - The holiday travel season is underway. Friday, is expected to be one of the busiest travel days at Wichita's Mid-Continent Airport.
Valerie Wise with the Wichita Airport Authority says, the best advice for travelers, is to arrive early. "You are encouraged to check in on-line, up to twenty-four hours before your flight departs," said Wise. "This insures that you have your boarding pass, and the seat assignment. If you're not checking bags, you can bypass the ticket counter, and go directly to the check point area," she added.
There's also encouraging news for holiday road trips. Officials believe gas prices will show a steady decline through the holidays. AAA Kansas spokesman, Jim Hanni says, in the mid-west, more people will travel by car, than by air. ""Probably about 78% of the travelers are going to see family and friends, that sort of thing," says Hanni. He adds, "It's a little bit higher than the National average."
Officials say gas prices are exactly where they were one-year ago, and around 45-cents lower than a month ago.
