BELLE PLAINE, Kan. - Authorities in Kansas have identified the Oklahoma residents killed in the weekend crash and explosion of a gasoline tanker truck south of Wichita.
The fatal wreck happened around 3:15 p.m. Saturday on the Kansas Turnpike near Belle Plaine. The Turnpike Authority on Monday identified the victims as Kelly Stark, 57, of Tulsa, and his passenger, Jennie Smith, 54, of Wagner, Okla.
Investigators say the northbound semi struck a guardrail on bridge, then skidded into a ditch where it caught fire and exploded.
